Earlier in the summer, students learned to use DSLR’s, Flip Cams, and the basics of journalism before embarking on outdoor adventures in Vermont, NJ, West Virginia, and Sailing. When they returned, and after a few days of rest, the groups pulled all of their footage together, learned to edit it using Photoshop, Aperture, and Final Cut Pro, learned to write PHP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript to showcase their experience on Web sites and in documentaries.

Big thanks to Elizabeth Hummer and Matthew Gossett, NYC film professionals, who took the time to teach our students how to organize and edit their visions on screen.

NJ Camping/Canoeing Adventure – by Joshua

Diego documented his adventure staying at a friend’s house in upstate NY. He taught himself stop-motion and included his experiments in his documentary.

dude, 4 the last 4 days we have been everywhere from the snowboarding slope to the top of the mountain 2 sleep. Can you believe it? but believe me, if i was 2 recap the events of everyday, you’d be bored and put 2 sleep. trus me, this is something worth listening.

Everyone had a goal on the mountain, right? Mine? to become an even better boarder than when i started. The 1st step towards taken it was 2 fully release myself from the stress of the life of my home. the 1st sign towards becoming that? i had to take a trip 2 the park because we had this photoshop training day. in it, me, shaki, and pedro and makayla were taken to the 360 park to have pics taken of us 4 the CI slideshow. i busted my butt the 1st try, but i trudged my butt back up the slope 2 try again. the 2nd time was a huge freakin’ success. i got this O.D. nice picture of me in the sky grabbing my board. found out i had the best pic of the whole students. (Homer doesn’t count he’s a freakin’ professional)

so how was that? try 2 do a tailgrab (that’s what i did) and make sure not 2 land on ur neck.

Vermont, Jay Peak Resort 2010, Fresh Track. A six day adventure where boys become men, Rise’ Em Jay. One of the toughest mountains in the East Coast. I love a challenge. So far I’ve learned how to ride switch, hit rails, do tail grabs coming off jumps, and how to butter 180 toe grab while riding. Its an unbelievable feeling doing something and succeeding at it. My Instructors Rob, Gio and Homer have been a big part of my success so far at Jay Peak, and I think I speak for everyone when I say this. They alway keeping us motivated, giving us tips, and telling us what we are doing wrong. With their constructive criticism and our determination to be better, only God can stop us from here. We did a photo-shoot in the park which went really well. I wasn’t the one taking pictures but my peers were. I was actually in the phoot-shoot which was really cool. I felt a sense of pride as if am doing something right. I’m not going to lie though, I was pretty nervous. You want to set a good impression. I knew I could throw some tricks down but when its your first time riding with other people who get some good air, you cant help but fell a little intimidated. All went well though and I landed a tail grab. After me and my group went up the tram. When we got up to the top (4000ft) elevation, we shredded as if an avalanche were falling. Sounds scary, well it wasn’t. I had a awesome time and wont mind doing it over and over. I almost forgot to mention, I meet a new friend while i was riding down. I like to call her “speed”. Me and her became best friends during my time at Jay Peak. I would never forget her and I hope to be visiting her very soon.

Well everyone, today was another great day. This trip has happen to be one of the best trips i been on. Being here with amazing people and ding something new and adventurous has been great. Today we woke up extra earl to see the sun rise; which was amazing. I wish i would be able to see the view i saw everyday. After, we played some trust games to see that we would all be able to trust each other. Once, we got back down from the mountain we ate and had our few last rides down the mountain snowbroading. I at first was so scared and planned not to go down the mountain, but i ended up doing it a 3 times. i was so impressed with myself and by the end of the day i was fully able to learn how to snowbroading without falling and having an instrustor with me all the time. this trip has been an adventure and great. i can now say, “hey i know how to snowbroading all in days because of campinteractive.”
